Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client For Mac Catalina

The VPN package is greyed out (as shown in the screen capture below) due to incomplete/unclean installation of VPN client.

To resolve the issue, please follow the steps below to remove the Cisco Anyconnect VPN client from your Mac OS X and re-install it again.

Note: If your Mac user account has no password (a blank password), you must give it a password before proceeding the procedures below. Please refer to Apple support site https://support.apple.com/en-hk/HT202860#knowpassword to change your password.

  1. The latest version of cisco anyconnect secure mobility client 4.8 is available for download. It can be used on microsoft, linux, and mac operating systems. Download cisco anyconnect for pc. To download the cisco anyconnect secure mobility client to your pc, you must log in with a cisco profile and have a valid service contract.
  2. Mac OS Mojave (10.14) is compatible with AnyConnect 4.9.05042 and below; For more details about the supported operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac) of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, refer to the article on Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Supported Operating Systems and Requirements.
  3. To connect to Cisco AnyConnect follow the instructions in Connect to AnyConnect VPN for Mac OS X. Installing Cisco AnyConnect for macOS. Click on the Download button under the AnyConnect for macOS (Recommended) section on the Downloads & Guides page. Enter your Internet ID and password, if prompted. Save the application, Do Not Run from the web.
  4. Download the Mac Cisco AnyConnect VPN client via the Related Downloads box to the right on this page. Run the downloaded program. Note: the version number may be different from the screenshot above. When the installation starts, double click AnyConnect to continue. Click Continue twice.

Had the same issue after upgrading to Mac-OS Catalina. Cisco Anyconnect version 4.7.04056 didnt worked on all the VPN Porfile configs, it worked for some and failed to some. DIfferent ASA Software and Hardware versions.

  1. From Finder menu, choose Go and then click Utilities.
  2. Click Terminal.app App.
  3. Type the following at the command prompt, press Enter and input the password of your Mac user account.

    sudo pkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.anyconnect.vpn
